15 июля 2012 года наша команда отправилась в пешую прогулку к озеру Маашей. Переходя Мажойский мост через Чую, мы обратили внимание на высокий уровень воды и плывущие в потоке деревья. Не сразу сообразив по какой тропе нам следует идти, мы случайно вышли к устью Мажоя. Русло реки скрывалось за небольшим пригорком, и то, что там творилось мы увидели только взобравшись на этот пригорок и оказавшись непосредственно у реки. Зрелище поражало: поток воды стоял стеной, под ногами дрожала земля, все звуки заглушал рев воды и громыхание камней. Вначале мы решили, что это обычный, но довольно мощный паводок. Масштабы происходящего начали понимать, когда поток начал сносить лес. О судьбе озера мы узнали только спустя 2 дня и только тогда осознали какое масштабное явление нам удалось увидеть и заснять.
