Mountains are created by gigantic forces beneath the Earths surface. However, while they are still growing from below, their surface weathers away and they begin to disintegrate.
Large amounts of rough rock debris tumble down and accumulate at the foot of the mountain. Fine material is blown away by the wind and is stratified in certain areas, forming heaps or earth-mounds. These mounds can remain stable for thousands of years. Then comes the fateful day, however, on which the inner stability of a mound is disturbed, and gigantic masses of debris and mud careen downhill: These peaceful mounds then become deadly landslides. The causes differ: heavy rainfall, melting ice, deforestation, earthquakes.
The film portrays the unbelievable power of a mudslide. We speak to people who have lost relatives to landslides. We find out how far science and research has come in the prevention of mudslides. We observe scientists and technical engineers from the United States Geological Survey and German mudslide specialists at work. The chapters of the film: The catastrophes, the causes, the science. Animations, 3-D-models and graphics illustrate the specialists explanations and hypotheses. Authentic archive-material documents the awesome power of landslides.
The reason it takes off at 36 min is because the exit is lower making a vacuum siphon. Just found out what this man made pond was built for, it for cutting out ice blocks before electric refrigerators. This was for the real ice boxes that used a block of ice to keep food fresh
The excitement starts after 19:00 .I was fighting lots of water pressure but I found it easier to just let the leaves pass through by scraping mt feet and the rake back and forth. As I was raking it created an undertow moving crap from the bottom of the lake over instantly and that is what took so long, I gave this my own inspection 5 months back and the grate is safe but the underground pipe is not and It is in the process of failing. The rock I found may have just fallen in. This time I got before and after video of the end. A shovel would not work well for this job so stop commenting that

This is a big one fellas! 45 feet of millable white oak. Using my monster 137cc Stihl 090 nestled into a Granberg Alaskan mill, I slab and slab and slab till I can slab no more. I milled a total of 5 logs at 100 inches and one at 4 feet all between 30-50 inches plus in diameter. If you have not seen this style mill, you are in for a treat, it allows a man to mill even the biggest of logs with minimal equipment. A chainsaw is mounted into the alaskan mill and used to slice one slab at a time with widths up (but not limited to!) 8 feet. My mill will cut a max of 56 inches, more than wide enough to end up with slabs large enough to make a table top out of a single board.
Want the stuff you see me using, buy from these links and help me at the same time!
