Large amounts of rough rock debris tumble down and accumulate at the foot of the mountain. Fine material is blown away by the wind and is stratified in certain areas, forming heaps or earth-mounds. These mounds can remain stable for thousands of years. Then comes the fateful day, however, on which the inner stability of a mound is disturbed, and gigantic masses of debris and mud careen downhill: These peaceful mounds then become deadly landslides. The causes differ: heavy rainfall, melting ice, deforestation, earthquakes.

The film portrays the unbelievable power of a mudslide. We speak to people who have lost relatives to landslides. We find out how far science and research has come in the prevention of mudslides. We observe scientists and technical engineers from the United States Geological Survey and German mudslide specialists at work. The chapters of the film: The catastrophes, the causes, the science. Animations, 3-D-models and graphics illustrate the specialists explanations and hypotheses. Authentic archive-material documents the awesome power of landslides.

When you think of ‘bad guys’, you tend to think of the most ruthless criminals. Ones that not only got into crime early, but continued on this path for their entire lives. Then, as they got older, they started dealing with more substantial illegal activities, be it smuggling, or trafficking, illegal substances. Then of course, you imagine that these folks met their end in the hands of the police, and you can bet that it was not a pretty sight. Well, if this is your checklist, then look no further than the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar. He was all this and more, and during his tenure as the top dog of the Medellin Cartel, he was worth an astonishing 25 billion dollars. Here’s the thing-- all that money had to go somewhere. After all, none of the banks wanted to touch all that dirty money. So Escobar hid it away in the walls of his estates, in the floorboards, even underground. And all those millions of millions of dollars are still being found today. Which brings us to today’s incredible story, as we hear from Nicolas Escobar, Pablo Escobar’s nephew, who found 18 million dollars in the walls of his home. A home that at one time, belonged to Pablo. It’s an incredible story, and it’s one that will surely make you think what could be stashed behind your OWN walls. Who knows?
